In addition to the The Marina at the London Docklands, SailAway is pleased to announce a limited number of superyacht berths at ExCel London, one of the 2012 Olympic Games venues. These exclusive berths are adjacent to the ExCel Centre in London’s Royal Docks, and provide charterers and their guests with a convenient base for the duration of the Games.
"We were thrilled in February to announce the availability of dockage at The Docklands," says Jana Sheeder, President of SailAway Yacht Charters. "Now we can offer additional accommodations, specifically to the largest yachts, at the Royal Docks. We understand the adjacent ExCel Centre will host a variety of Olympic events including Boxing, Wrestling, Fencing, Taekwondo, and Table Tennis."
Infrastructure is in place to provide an on-site berth manager, restricted public access, a dedicated parking lot for automobiles and concierge services.
Sheeder expects heavy demand for these prime berths and encourages yacht owners and charter clients to reserve their berths as soon as possible. "In addition to Her Majesty's Jubilee Flotilla in June, I can't imagine a more exciting time to bring a superyacht to London!"

Over 1,000 boats and yachts of all sizes are expected to participate.
It is anticipated to be one of the largest flotillas ever assembled on the river, with approximately 30,000 people waving flags and cheering Her Majesty the Queen. Rowed boats, working boats, and pleasure vessels of all shapes and sizes are expected to join luxury mega yacht charter vessels on the Thames.
Vessels will be beautifully dressed with streamers and Union Jacks, and crews and passengers are expected to turned out in their finest uniforms and outfits. The armed forces, fire, police, rescue, and other services will all participate as well as a collection of historic boats, wooden launches, and steam vessels from a bygone era.

Taking place just 6 week prior to the opening ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics, the yachting spectacle will be enhanced with music barges, boats spouting water cannons, and pyrotechnic barges launching daytime fireworks. There will also be specially-constructed elements like a floating belfry - its chiming bells answered by those from riverbank churches.

Thames piers, riverside roads and bridges will be closed to traffic and 40 to 50 giant screens will be erected along the flotilla route for the public to enjoy the pageant from all possible vantage points. The flotilla concludes at Battersea Park with a program of music, and artist-led Jubilee-themed entertainment.
The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant celebrates Her Majesty's sixty years of service to the British Commonwealth by bringing the Thames to life. Pageants on the Thames date back to 1453. A river full of superyacht vessels and boats, clanging bells, and tooting horns will recall its royal heritage and its heyday as a working, bustling river.

The rush is on to book a last minute Monaco Grand Prix yacht!
As the dates draw closer for Europe's premier Formula 1 Grand Prix and similar special events such as the Cannes Film Festival, charter customers are cautioned to first concentrate on where they will dock their rental yacht.
"When a customer contacts us to rent a Monaco Grand Prix yacht, we immediately focus on securing a berth in Port Hercules, the only marina adjacent to the race course," says Jana Sheeder, President of SailAway Yacht Charters. "The only way to view the race from the deck of a yacht is to be moored in the marina, preferably in Zone 1, closest to the track and Jumbotron."
Unless you are a race team sponsor, dock space in the port is reserved via a written application and can take up to 5 weeks to process.
"It doesn't matter if you want to attend the Grand Prix in Monaco or the Film Festival in Cannes, you must make it a priority to secure a berth many weeks, if not months, prior to the event," reports Sheeder. "We hear horror stories where people have rented a yacht only to find their charter broker did not secure dockage at the marina closest to the special event location."
With nearly all available dockage already reserved for the Grand Prix, Sheeder and her team are now promoting yachts that are available for the race dates AND have already secured premium dockage.
"We have several yachts such as the 26 meter JACKIE ONE, available for the race and with a secured berth in Zone 1, right next to the racecourse," claims Sheeder.

Launched in 2001, the 82-foot Amer motor yacht JACKIE ONE combines elegance with comfort and space. Refit in 2007 by Maiora, the yacht she is now equipped with a large hydro-massage Jacuzzi.
Her wide salon offers a comfortable entertainment area and home theatre system for relaxing moments. Large windows give brightness to the area and illuminates the refined furnishings. Meals can be served in a choice of four different areas: at the dining table in the salon; inside the spacious cockpit; on the aft deck; or on the upper deck.
While at dockside, the yacht can host up to 30 passengers for watching the race or for evening cocktail parties. For overnight guests, the yacht provides four spacious cabins with accommodations for 8 guests.
The flybridge is equipped with a large Jacuzzi for 4-6 people along with adjacent sunbathing cushions.
Motor yacht JACKIE ONE is offering a reduced rate for the Grand Prix of Monaco. Lowered from € 25,000 EUROS, the 4-day rate during the Monaco GP is now € 20,000 EUROS, including the secured berth for the race. The yacht is VAT exempt, but running expenses, such as food and bar, are extra.

May 8 marked the conclusion of the 21st Annual Genoa mega yacht charter yacht show. The industry-only event that draws the top luxury charter brokers and charter journalists from around the world. Held at Marina Molo Vecchio, the Genoa boat show showcased 65 mega yacht Mediterranean yacht charter vessels, although it attracted 100 fewer brokers than last year, most likely due to the economy.
The number of megayacht and superyacht vessels that are actually in the show is based on the number that can fit at the available dockage. As is the case each year, several mega yacht owners were disappointed, as a few superyachts were left on the waiting list.
Organized by the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association (MYBA), many yachting-related vendors set up booths along the docks and represented diverse products, from yacht insurance to hotel and tourism destinations. The most common yachts desired for Mediterranean yachting vacations are motoryachts, in contrast with the private sailing yachts that dominate the Caribbean yacht charter marketplace. Supporting this distinction, the majority of yachts in the Genoa show were motoryachts, with the largest being the 70+ meter superyacht models, Boadicea and Haida G.

There were also a number of new yachts with new crew at the show, which bodes well for an industry aching to expand beyond the economic downturn. New private luxury charter yachts include LEO FUN, BIG CITY, PAOLYRE, SALU, SLIPSTREAM, and many more.
While the 2008 season was sluggish due to the global economic meltdown, many brokers in attendance cite an uptick in the number of inquiries for a summertime charter. Indeed, brokers, owners, and crew are all optimistic for a rebound in luxury mega yacht charter vacations this summer.
The buzz on the docks this year seemed to be the increased interest by both yacht owners and charter customers to explore more areas outside of the standard cote d'azur yacht charter locale. As potential charter customers inquire about Croatia yacht charter vacations and Greece yacht charter outings, the word begins to filter back to the yacht owners via the charter brokers. As more clients express interest in a region, more owners are then willing to relocate their megayachts to non-traditional destinations such as Turkey, Greece, and Croatia, for a portion, if not the entire summer charter season.
